Total Hours: 5h
This week was a focus on getting some of the “little stuff” done that has needed to be done for a while. And boy was it productive! While I didn’t log a ton of hours this week, the ones I logged were extremely full of getting things checked off, which is always a good feeling.
Shiloh and Angus sent me some new audio goodies, which felt GREAT to finally get in-scene. This provided me with a great incentive to overhaul our sound system from the coding end and get a taste of what the finished product might sound like.
I also implemented a “scrolling tablet” for use in the biowall puzzle, which has been on my list for a few weeks now and is FINALLY in-game. Finally. I’d like to tweak some of the settings to make the scrolling feel a little more natural, but this is ready to receive the art that’ll make the puzzle work.
Oh, yeah, and the gallery puzzle is better now. The new hand models shouldn’t break in the build like they have been, and now they rotate to follow along the edge of the frame! It’s the little things.
I also got to have a little fun in Maya, making a double helix desk lamp for the study. I was originally slated to make study filler assets, but Chris took much of that on this week.
Positives: This has been a really good week for me, despite being absurdly busy once again. I got to check a bunch of things off the list, the team is really coming together, and the game made FANTASTIC progress this week.
Negatives: There is always, always, always more to do. Logistics are a nightmare as usual. Juggling 500 things is stressful and some days there just isn’t enough coffee in the world to keep me awake. We still have a LOT to do, and I’m certain we’ll be busy right up into spring break.
Next week I’m on to cleaning mocap data because the programming is in good shape and we need hands.
